How Booking Works

How to Book a Tattoo at Tattoo Lab in Halifax

Here’s how to book a tattoo at Tattoo Lab in four steps: send us your idea, plan it with the right artist, confirm your date with a deposit, then get tattooed and follow your aftercare. This page explains each step, from your first message to a healed tattoo.

Step 1: Share Your Tattoo Idea

Send your idea through the Book Now form, or text us at 902-448-2211. Texting is the fastest way to reach us.

To speed things up, tell us:

  • your tattoo idea, placement and approximate size
  • your style preferences, plus a reference image if you have one
  • your ideal days and times, and a budget range if you have one

Reference photos are optional, but they help speed things up.

Step 2: Plan With the Right Artist

We review your project, recommend the right artist and reply as soon as we can. If you asked for an email reply, please check your spam folder.

Your artist confirms whether you need a consultation for your tattoo.

Your Consultation

Consultations are free for most tattoos. At the consultation, you and your artist go over your idea, placement, size and style. Final estimates can be determined during your consultation based on final size, complexity and placement.

Step 3: Confirm Your Appointment With a Deposit

When you’re happy with the plan, approve the timing, review the estimate and secure your booking with the deposit your artist confirms.

Deposits vary by tattoo and appointment, and your artist confirms the amount when you book. Deposits can be paid by e-Transfer, credit or debit card, or cash at the studio. They are non-refundable and non-transferable to another person, and go toward your final price.

Payment safety: Before sending any payment, please confirm you’re talking to an official Tattoo Lab employee.

We accept credit and debit cards, e-Transfer, and cash where possible. We don’t offer payment plans.

Rescheduling Your Appointment

Need to reschedule? With at least 7 days’ notice, your deposit moves to your new appointment date. Last-minute or short-notice cancellations and changes require a new deposit.

More answers on cancellations, late arrivals and refunds are in our tattoo and piercing FAQ.

Step 4: Get Tattooed and Follow Aftercare

Come to your appointment prepared, then follow your aftercare guidance while your tattoo heals. New to tattoos? Read your first tattoo guide.

What to Bring to Your Appointment

  • Valid government-issued photo ID showing your date of birth (required for all clients).
  • The minimum age for tattoos is 16. Clients aged 16–17 need consent from a parent or legal guardian, who must be present for the entire session. Clients 18 and over don’t need consent.

Walk-In Tattoos, Hours and Getting Here

Hours: Our general hours are 11 AM to 10 PM. Your artist confirms your appointment time with you. Appointments outside these hours may be possible by arrangement.

Walk-ins: Walk-in tattoos and piercings depend on artist and piercer availability. Piercings are usually easier to fit in, and there may be a wait at busy times, so calling ahead is always recommended: 902-448-2211.

Location: 221 Herring Cove Rd, Halifax, NS B3P 1L3. Halifax Transit routes 9A, 9B and 24 run along Herring Cove Road past the studio, with bus stops a short walk away near Mont Street and McMullen Road. Parking at the studio is limited; public parking is nearby, but availability varies. Allow extra time and park at your own risk.

Aftercare and Touch-Ups

Use your artist’s aftercare guidance and our step-by-step tattoo aftercare guide while you heal. It covers second skin removal, your first wash, what to avoid, healing stages and red flags. Questions while healing? Text us at 902-448-2211.

We offer complimentary touch-ups when they’re genuinely necessary, as determined by your artist, for example uneven healing, significant ink loss during healing, areas that didn’t retain ink, or issues from the original application. Conditions apply: touch-ups aren’t guaranteed and have no fixed time window. They don’t cover natural fading over time (skin type, aftercare, sun exposure or ageing) or damage from picking, scratching or otherwise interfering with healing. Fingers, hands and feet fade easily, so complimentary touch-ups aren’t guaranteed in those areas.

Booking a Piercing?

Piercings work a little differently. The piercings available depend on which piercer is working, and walk-ins may be possible, so please call or text 902-448-2211 before coming in. See body piercing in Halifax for piercing types, jewellery and prices.
